I’m ready to bet, most fashionable and stylish girls (while reading this title) will exclaim: “What? How it could be? These ugly and boring boots?” And I would like to say – yeah! These boots are really cool.

Story of Valenki

Valenki are traditional Russian winter boots made of felt. They used to be extremely popular and still a prefect symbol of the Russian Federation. Their story started many years ago, the technology of their producing is unique: each valenok is made from a seamless strip of 100%  lamb wool. Thus, they are extremely warm and healthy felt boots. They are “bathed” in special acid and then in boiling water and before the final step – drying – they are given  a form of a foot.

Valenki are perfect for healing of cold-flu, rheumatic disease. Hairs of wool gently massage feet, make blood circulation much better and take care about immune system. And now, valenki are ideal for cold weather, you’ll stay warm even when it’s 40 degrees C below zero. According to a reliable source, they are more reliable than Swedish or Norwegian ones. Russian valenki were worn by both common people and members of tsar family. Valenki are not waterproof, so most people adore wearing them together with galoshi – special rubber clogs to protect valenki from water, wear and tear.

Many people are against valenki and think they are really ugly. As for me, everybody has the right to express his or her opinion.  But, I really like them, valenki are so cute, so touching and warm. No doubts, they are a bad variant for a fashionable party and a glam evening gown, but in Siberia, Alaska, Canada and other more than cold places, hand-made valenki with ornaments, embroidery and decorations, together with a nice scarf and mittens will be a cool combination.

I bought a pair of valenki from akaculture.com and i love them! They are extremely warm, and really comfortable. I came across an article recently that called valenkis the “new Uggs.” Personally, I like valenki much more than Uggs. In my opinion hey are much cuter, and they are definitely much more practical as a winter boot.

2 Amy: I think, it’s not a bad way out to buy Valenki from AKA.
2 Katie: Hi, I am so glad! How are your feelings? Can you send me photos of your Valenki?

    Hi Angel,

I just stopped back to tell you that my girlfriend loved her AKAs so much and got so many comments on them that she bought me a pair. I’m looking forward to the cooler weather coming so I can break them out more often.

    Best,
    Duke

P.S. You can’t wear Valenki without Galoshi (rubber shoe on top ob Valenki). Valenki very slippery and will get wet in snow without Galoshi. Galoshi must be very shiny- taken of Valenki and cleaned after every use. You have to dry Valenki withought Galoshi every day. It’s scary and crazy foot wear. My poor mother had to clean my Valenki every winter day. Lol

P.P.S. Wearing Valenki without Galoshi is not a complete look. We never go outside in *just* Valenki. It’s like wearing boots without shoelaces. :)

Exactly. This is what I envision as the future of "fashion" for those over 40. On your birthday, you will get a government-issued black suit, flat black shoes and a short bowl cut hairdo. No makeup or personal expression of any kind will be allowed whether you

I'm so happy for Angelina. She deserves to get married because she's a good person. Before I thought she hates marriages. Good thing that Brad change his perceptions.

agree! if you have a good figure and can carry it off why not? though I do think that mini skirts on over 45s is a bit too young..I have 2 daughters aged 25 and 30,and am told I look about 40..but still wouldn't wear a mini..
