Today, my dear fashion-lovers, I even don’t have enough time to say “Hello!” to you. Why? Because, I am writing about one of the most controversial and the most doubtful drinks of the century (and of the previous century as well!) - Coke. Actually, it has no connection to style and fashion, but after a closer look, you will understand, there is no style, glam and fashion without you and you have to be healthy. Because, a sound mind in a sound body.

I am not a fat person and have never been crazy about diets, but I adore Coke (used to adore, before this post) and prefer to enjoy its taste instead of thinking about health impact. But, the following information has changed my opinion. Diet Coke is called DIET, ’cause it is aimed to make your thinner, healthier and more attractive and what do we have in reality? It is highly promoted in mass media, it is a sponsor of various sport tournaments and activities. It is the 4th commonly consumed carbonated drink in our world and even a corporate partner of FIFA. Reasonable evidence of its popularity and no suspicions. But, the world is not a Disney Product, we have to face the truth:

- Coke is black water with synthetic chemicals:(just some of them: caramel colour, citric acid, carbonated water, aspartame and caffeine etc.) Also, it is said, that natural flavours are added to it. I don’t know how natural they are, but I’ve got a lot of doubts as to their naturalness.
- Coke is aimed to help people lose weight and in fact, it has calories and because of its sweeteners prevents you from getting a feeling of satiation, moreover, Coke can block your ability to burn fat, thus, it is a common knowledge, you will feel tired throughout the day and will be extremely hungry.
So, next time, before drinking a can of Diet Coke think about health and remember, that you are not a fool, and very often successful marketing strategies can substitute medical facts, don’t let them pull your leg!

Diet Coke - Stylish Way to Health or Death?
you offer no proof in your article. next time show me the chemicals, show me the lies, instead of just hinting at them. if you are going to expose something, do it fully so that there can be no doubt.
No offense is intended in what I’m about to say, as I DO NOT drink pop, but this article is thin on facts - evidence. You read the ingredients and posted them? How is that helping anyone make an informed decision about whether diet coke is detrimental to health as you _imply_ it is.
For example, “one of the most controversial and the most doubtful drinks of the century” and “Coke can block your ability to burn fat, thus, it is a common knowledge, you will feel tired throughout the day and will likely be extremely hungry.” huh? These sweeping generalizations without reference to a single source do more to promote uneducated mythologies than actually help people take control of their diet and health. How exactly does diet coke block the burning of fat? More to the point, what you are saying is that anyone doing aerobic activity below their aerobic threshold will surely collapse since energy is produced by metabolizing fat. Since that isn’t happening en masse, you must mean something else…
If you believe passionately in something, as I think you do about this particular issue, get informed before you start trying to change people’s minds because it can be more damaging to your position and to anyone who listened to you if down the road you have to retract or qualify something b/c you failed to do the leg work at the onset.
Excuse me if I’m wrong, but ‘diet’-whatever (diet-coke, diet-pepsi, etc.) doesn’t mean it’s going to make you lose weight. It just has less sugar, calories or whatever, and therefore by drinking ‘diet’ coke, you just get less of those things that make you fat. It doesn’t make you lose weight though.
The fact that coke has carbonated water and caffeine and stuff actually is news to you? You build up this article as if you know something that will shock the world and all you come up with is “it has caffeine, and has other strange chemicals i don’t really understand, so it must be bad for you.” And leave you hungry all day? Only if you drink nothing else than coke do you get that kind of effect.
Great concept, I just think there should be a more in-depth exploration of the chemicals in diet coke and the effects on your body. For example, the phosphoric acid in many caramel coloured drinks (even iced tea also) has an inverse relation to calcium in your body. Thus, drinking coke can weaken your bones, destroy the enamel on your teeth (as well as stain them profusely) among other things. A study I once read claimed that a single can of coke inhibits your immune system for approximately 11 hours. But hey, it tastes great right?
I expected a valid reason…
Hello, thanks for your reply and detailed answer. 2 Noema: Also, thanks again, for your praise about my devotion to the issue mentioned. I don’t know whether you are a supporter or an opponent of diet coke as a drink, but I am sure that you adore everything to be on its place. It is really meritoriously!
My answer will be simple, I am so sorry for disappointing you, but my blog is neither a scientific nor a medical one, so, it was no use for me to include in my article all medical terms and to make it twice as bigger. It is doubtful, that ordinary people, without medical or other specialized education can understand the citation of the chemicals a can of diet coke include. So, as to me it was useless on a fashion blog like mine. My aim was to draw attention of people to the existing problem, to tell something about it (I mean to give a GENERAL review). I wanted to inform people that life is not all honey and they have to think before drink something very often and if they are interested in this problem, they can find more about it in special resources and from more competent people in this question.
Thanks for your critics it will help me to avoid such mistakes in future posts. Next time, while touching such a controversial issue, I will either pad it with unfamiliar scientific words or won’t write about it at all. If you are interested in scientific explanation, we already have it (thanks to Tony!!!)
Nevertheless, I just wanted to draw your attention to the problem and not to say that the Dutch have taken Holland! Thanks for you attention.
Special thanks to Tony! Yeah, it tastes great, that’s why I want people to be informed about possible aftermaths.
