And now, our 2nd and very special gift – a brilliant guest post written by Elana Pruitt from Beauty Chat Blog. I am not only a great admirer of this blog, ’cause they perfectly know how to look good and feel good, I adore Elana, she is a great journalist and our favourite writer of Beauty Chat Blog. According to Elana, one of the most chic, multi-tasking machines around: “Everyone’s different. So love the body you were born with and, of course, love the one that you worked your butt off to pay for!”

So, Elana’s post, enjoy please, this amazing St. Valentine’s day gift:

From Novel to NBC: Will “Lipstick Jungle” make it big on the small screen?

As a self-proclaimed “mish-mash fashion junkie” (as well as a personal shopper and wardrobe consultant), I couldn’t wait to witness Carrie Bradshaw’s outfits on each episode of HBO’s “Sex and the City.” And even though Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda’s styles, on the other hand, were never really my forte, I still made it a point to keep up with their breakfast and lunchtime chats. Be it Mr. Big talk, Carrie’s column inspirations, baby drama, and lovers quarrels, “Sex and the City” meant a martini in one hand, a Gucci purse in the other, and a best girlfriend’s arm linked into one of them.

Then it happened! Candace Bushnell decided to write a new novel about three successful, professional women who are guided by their friendships with one another in addition to their careers.

After getting an own autographed copy of “Lipstick Jungle” at a recent LA press luncheon, where I got to hear Bushnell read an excerpt from the book, I couldn’t put “Lipstick Jungle” down. Nico O’Neilly, Wendy Healy, and Victory Ford were the three amigas I was hoping to relate to. Although each one dealt with their own issues, such as marriages gone sour and the challenge in being a busy mom, I enjoyed the dynamics between them. So imagine my excitement when watching the premiere episode!

I remember their being talk about turning the novel into a new TV drama during that event months ago. And although I never paid attention to the network it would be on, I always imagined that the raciness of the book would be more HBO-friendly versus a new NBC series. But I’m keeping an open-mind as Brooke Shields (Wendy), Kim Reilly (Nico), and Lindsay Price (Victory) recite the lines Bushnell so delicately wrote. I hope this series encourages young women to focus on their way in the world while holding their own amongst male colleagues and competition. I also hope it continues to rock the small screen with gorgeous fashion and the take-no-prisoners attitude that a 40-something, business-oriented woman needs to survive. So “Lipstick Jungle” Thursdays at 10 p.m…

Will NBC give these characters justice, allowing just the right amount of glitz, sex, and scandal the novel so perfectly exhibited? Let’s keep our fingers crossed.

P.S. Thank you so much Elana, now you are part of our blog, incredible! What is more, thank you for this gift, we are honoured to get a post from you!

    Great blog Elana!

I was never into “Sex in the City” but actually love this show. I randomly caught a rerun on cable (I think on the USA network, maybe?) and now I am definately going to watch on Thursday nights.

Hi Angel! It is such a pleasure to see you post this so quickly! Chic Stories is fabulous, and it’s an honor to be apart of your site, as well as write about my love for Candace Bushnell’s creations. Oh, and for those who would like to uncover the beginning of it all, check out her book, “Trading Up.” It’s the precursor to “Lipstick Jungle” and definitely worth reading.

    Let’s chat again soon. xoxox…Elana

I hear ya, Elana! It is exciting when a fave book hits the screen, big or small. Hopefully, LJ the series wil meet devoted readers’ expectations. I love Brooke Shields, always have (it must be her name, hahaha), and hope that this works out for her.
