Womans World Magazine with photo of Kimmer

A man with a full belly thinks no one is hungry, the same with fat and thin people. If you are slim, you are lucky, healthy and successful… If you are fat, you are a goof-up and unsuccessful person… It sounds awful, and you may think – this person is crazy or even mad about her weight. I must disappoint you, these statements are not about me. But, many women do think so. For them, being fat means being unlucky and possessing no friends. If this feeling is familiar to you, read the following article till the end.

Yesterday, while searching for “Nutritious food” I found a blog about Kimkins diet. This notion was familiar to me, but I had no idea how popular this diet is. A plenty of blogs, devoted fans and a professional website. Everything is so perfect! I am not an old, jealous and quarrelsome person, but I think, in any situation there are two sides, there must be at least one disappointed person… But, no! So, now I will make a small review of this diet and, please, PAY ATTENTION! I am neither an opponent of this diet, nor a doctor, so, I just came across a controversial issue (according to opinions and reviews of people), it is really so and decided to highlight it, because some facts make me think, a healthy point of this diet is only a blind.

Appearance

This diet itself and its founder is already an extremely controversial issue. Kimkins Diet became popular after publishing a photo of a woman – Kimmer in a national women’s magazine. She reported to lose approximately 200 pounds in 11 months. Millions of people were interested in it, ’cause the results predicted to be miraculous – due to this diet a person can lose weight faster than with the help of gastric bypass surgery and stay healthy!!! As I have already said, it was published in a national women’s magazine, so, there were no reasons to take this information as a dubious one.

What is Kimkins?

Kimkins kimmer amazing resultKimkins diet is a very low carb, low calorie and low fat diet. Actually, it is just a new variant of Atkins diet (even its title). According to it, you can take 20 carbs per day (without counting of carbs from fiber), eliminating of fat and leaving only protein and carbs. So, not more than 700 calories a day (Atkins diet not more than 1200 calories). But, pay attention, to the following fact – Atkins method has a large medical research behind it and many doctors considered it to be a healthy diet (of properly used), but Kimmer, nothing is known about this person and a new vision of the old research. She admits having no medical education and knowing nothing about diets. Oh, my God!

Reverse of the coin

This diet is a kind of starvation. According to medical facts, it is impossible to live on 500-700 calories a day (if you, of course, want your body and inner organs to be healthy). Almost in each answer and recommendation Kimmer tells people to go lower in calories.

  1. Kimmer promotes regular use of laxatives. But, any normal person knows, how dangerous it can be if taken constantly;
  2. It’s very low in calories, but these diets can be undertaken only under the supervision of a doctor;
  3. Many people were reported to have serious side effects, such as: fainting, hair loss, confusion, heart palpitations etc.

Due to kimkins diet Diet in progress

So, I read a lot about this diet, I even found an investigation of Laura Dolson from About.com. And I was impressed. As a conclusion, I have never tried this diet and now I am sure, I will never try. But, please, be careful, while looking for a miracle. Some offers are really tempting, but when it is about your health and future life, find more about ambiguous ideas, and consult a doctor. Good luck! And the last thing, I would like to mention, if you are a successful follower of this diet, I am sorry for hurting your feelings (and feelings of this diet creator as well), I just expressed my own point of view. If you are a better expert in this question, feel free to share your knowledge with me and other readers! Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for sharing information about the Kimkins Diet Scam.

    It really is a scary proposition to try to expect your body to survive on so few calories and so little in the way of nutritious food. Just imagine all the damage that must be done.

    I definitely agree that this is a dangerous, nutritionally bankrupt, starvation diet, very much akin to anorexia.

    And of course, not only is the diet hazardous to our health, the whole thing is a scam too.

    For those who have been taken advantage of by the Kimkins Diet Scam, you may be eligible to join the Kimkins Class Action Lawsuit, so please check out the website to see if you can participate: http://kimkinslawsuit.wordpress.com/

    There are plenty of healthy ways to lose weight out there, just take it slow and steady. Rapid weight loss is not a good thing. You don’t want to lose your health along with the weight.

    Please keep us updated on this issue.

    I see there is an interesting website entitled Kimkins Survivors.

    http://kimkinssurvivors.blogspot.com/

    I do hope people will make better choices about how to lose weight in 2008.

    Judging from some of the stories on the Survivors website, Kimkins certainly does not look like a very healthy way to go about it.

    I wouldn’t worry about hurting folks feelings. It is more important for the truth to be told so more people aren’t hurt.

    Thank you!
