Lily Allen was recently seen with the handbags from the Coco Cocoon collection. The Chanel campaign star also gets paid to promote this brand. According to the creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, the lifestyle and sense of humour of the British singer was the reason why he chose her to front his latest collection. Lily also proved her brand loyalty by performing at Chanel’s Paris show during Fashion Week. The Coco Cocoon collection would be launched in Chanel stores in about two weeks.

The leather purse from Chanel is available in different colours like black, beige, burgundy, taupe, blue, grey and red which mean there would be no shortage of choice when it comes to picking one for you. The bags are also high on the fun part as being reversible; they can be used inside out as well. The puffy leather bags add tons of style to your personality and the Chanel enthusiasts are all excited about this new line.

Karl and Lilly got together in front of the camera in a promotional drive for the brand’s new range which promises a wide range of luxury sportswear bags. They both admitted to having a lot of fun during the promotional campaign. Now it is to be seen whether the response for the Coco Cocoon purse matches the success of their campaign.

The ad features an exceptional assortment of Chanel accessories from Fall/Winter 2009/2010 collection – “Coco Cocoon”. I don’t associate Lily with Chanel’s elegance and style. As to me, she is a poor Chanel girl. What do you think?

But now the situation with handbags has changed. I DO love totes with logos. I don’t think them to be too trite and tasteless, I just think they are great (especially with discounts). My absolute favorite is Chanel Logo Tote. I think this bag is worth every penny one spends on it.

And now dresses. I can’t imagine my life without them. Gone are the days when a small girl was screaming and yelling: “Dresses? NEVER!!!” Nowadays, even daring dresses is not a problem. I can wear all kinds, length and styles.

Let’s start from me. I have a fashion blog and adore writing about all these latest fashion stories and recommendations, stylish and not very celebrities, new fashion trends. Unfortunately, sometimes it takes me more than an hour at least to have a quick review of all this info and unfortunately, very often it wasn’t worth my attention. So, I feel myself frustrated and disappointed. Please, don’t think that I don’t like all info, fashion and news portals, I just can’t choose the best and so get too many news.

But today I finally succeeded to choose one site about fashion news and I must say, it really works. I save my time and nice mood, what is more, I found the latest news on fashion trends, celebs, magazines reviews, fashion events and cosmetic novelties. Thus, I can always be informed about everything that happens in the fashion world. It is called Style Crunch.

My recent discoveries:

• Eva Longoria and Heather Locklear shoot their new L’Oreal commercial in Los Angeles;
• in next month’s Maxim we’ll see Mischa Barton’s photoshoot;
• striking covers of the January issue of Harper’s Bazaar issues;

General moments:

• a variety of bright colours, catwalks looked like a roost of colourful and rare butterflies: pink, red, yellow etc.
• flowers, feathers, prints;
• frocks, bows, kimonos;
• either small or extremely big bags;
• high-heeled shoes;

Interesting moments:

• Bird-women, floral and fauna prints, exotic trends, kimono-tunics, maxi-dresses, striped cardigans… Colours are bright, even bold. These all can be seen in the collection from Kenzo.

  

• Alexander McQueen was a little bit nostalgic. We can see again hats from Philip Treacy and feel Isabella Blow presence (may be because a bottle of her perfume was given to every guest!). This season McQueen is mad about Japan, rainbow prints, sandals, lace inserts and kimono dresses.

   

• Chanel. As for me, I adore their ready-to-walk collections, they are a bright combination of the heritage and modern. Most of all, I liked their stars, especially on dresses, they are so stylish and adorable.

  

• Also, I liked new Galliano’s vision of the world and business dress-code. They are thought-provoking and are a perfect reflection of Marlene Dietrich style.

  

• Lanvin frocks are so gentle and at the same time sexy, they are made for special occasions. In this dresses, women seem to be like flowers. So, delicious!

  

Not very interesting moments:

Dear fashion-lovers, can you tell me truth: do you like fashion weeks and various fashion shows? The same with me. And, no doubts, you’ve heard such a notion as haute couture? But, do you really know what does it mean? Well, I guess not everybody, because most of my friends, have a vague idea, what it means. Now, we all have a perfect opportunity to get acquainted with it a little bit closer.

So, to start with, let’s find out, what haute couture is.

Such a sophisticated phrase can be easily interpreted from French to English as HIGH FASHION. Actually, couture means to sew, to make clothes, to create things and haute is something that is elegant, excellent or high. Haute couture clothes are hand made by leading fashion houses. As a rule, each haute couture thing is made in a strict accordance with person shape and curves.

Cost of haute couture clothes

Do you remember, there is no such thing as a free lunch? So, don’t even try to find one. Of course, the price depends on many factors, such as popularity of brand, sophistication of designing and so on, but, to tell the truth, you will hardly find a thing, cheaper than £10,000. As a rule, each item price goes higher than £50,000. If you are not a daughter of Bill Gates, definitely, it seems to be completely unexplainable, how a person can spend more than £50,000 for a single dress. But, here we deal with status and luxury, exclusiveness and innovative designing, not with a sum of money. For example, Chanel couture house has more than 150 regular clients.

Truly speaking, fabrics are extremely expensive. They are mainly: expensive silks, cashmeres, linens, cottons, suede, leather and, of course, all kind of furs. Moreover, a designer can need only a special colour of fabric.

As you already know, haute couture clothes are made from highly expensive fabrics, so in order not to spoil even a meter of it, fashion designers make samples of garments, or so called toiles. The cutting and the finishing is made in one room and there is always a manageress, that is responsible for this garment exclusiveness (thus, she must keep its design it a secret).

The seamy side of haute couture

It is not a surprise, that haute couture industry is not a flourishing industry at all. Just calculate, how much time, efforts and people are needed in order to create a single garment? But, fashion houses still make expansive extraordinary shows and sales only a limited number of garments. So, what is it all about? It is all about prestige and chic and also, it is a some kind of advertising campaign. They sell a dream, a dream, that a person (if he or she can afford to buy such a thing) is really cool and all-mighty and, what is more, can possess and expensive elite garment or a bottle of fragrance, isn’t it cool to feel yourself one in a million?
