Today we’ll take a moment to catch you up to speed with what fashion trends you can look forward to seeing in the upcoming Spring and Summer 2008 seasons. Let’s take a look at what we can expect to see from three of the largest names in fashion: Christian Dior, Chanel and Dolce and Gabbana.

  • Graphic and animal prints are welcomed.
  • Berets and bowlers are on the top of popularity.
  • Combination of white and black colors.

Haute couture clothes are expensive and luxurious, in such dresses you will feel yourself like a Queen or one in a million girl. But, there is one more category – ready-to-wear clothes or more known to us as pret-a-porter clothing. More about them…

Modern fashion industry clothes can be divided into two main categories – “haute couture” and “ready-to-wear”. No doubts, couture fashion designers are very popular and are aimed only for extremely wealthy clients, moreover, in order to be able to produce “haute couture clothes” they have to get an official permission from the Syndical Chamber for Haute Couture, it is based in Paris. Because of this agreement, designers have to show their collections twice a year and not less than 35 outfits in one collection. As a rule, these outfits are exposed in private salons.

As usual, one of my favourite blogs proposes answers on the necessary and urgent questions. Why? Because, a lot was written about this fall fashion, even more tips were given in order any of your to be stylish and glamorous, but, shame on me! I’ve forgotten about one of the most important details and without is you can’t be stylish and cool – tights, my dears. How stupid of me, yeah? Oversized sweaters, ankle-boots, secretary dresses and long, beautiful but shivering and chilly legs. A nice picture. So, now I want to say thank you to Couture In The City Blog and to pay your attention to the post about Wearing of Black Tights, Stockings and Hosiery.

Also, this week my curiosity was provoked with the unusual and glamorous photos. At the 1st sight, they seemed to be a little bit trite and even too appalling, but after some time I liked them and found them even wondrous. Look with your own eyes, am I right? The photos belong to Marilyn Minter and I found them here. Fashion Orgasm blog is a new discovery of this fall!

Backstage of Haute Couture - Christian Dior fashion collection

Dear fashion-lovers, can you tell me truth: do you like fashion weeks and various fashion shows? The same with me. And, no doubts, you’ve heard such a notion as haute couture? But, do you really know what does it mean? Well, I guess not everybody, because most of my friends, have a vague idea, what it means. Now, we all have a perfect opportunity to get acquainted with it a little bit closer.

So, to start with, let’s find out, what haute couture is.

Such a sophisticated phrase can be easily interpreted from French to English as HIGH FASHION. Actually, couture means to sew, to make clothes, to create things and haute is something that is elegant, excellent or high. Haute couture clothes are hand made by leading fashion houses. As a rule, each haute couture thing is made in a strict accordance with person shape and curves.

John Galliano Fashion World. Story of a lucky boy

bazaar picture from Galliano

John Galliano can be named as one of the most authoritative fashion designers of our time. John was born in Gibraltar in 1960, but he spent his childhood in London and has both his own label and is a chief designer of France’s haute couture flagship, Christian Dior, in Paris. Galliano is a provocateur, he is an inventor and a creator. His fashion shows are going everywhere, sometimes, I think, there is no place in the world, which Galliano can’t choose for his catwalk (let’s just remember the Opéra Garnier in Paris ).

Fashionable Black Clothes

Fashion! Such a good word! It sounds great and when you are fashionable it even looks greatly! Fashion is very changeable, it is even impossible to buy (unless you are a famous celebrity or a super star) the whole latest fashion things! But, you can develop your own style and never forget about a sheet anchor in the world of rapidly changing fashion! It is a black colour! Remember, popular Man in Black? They were and will be famous forever! Because of a colour of their costumes!

According to Sally Singer’s (Fashion News Director at the Vogue Magazine)words: “This season black is used in a very interesting combinations, the 1st one is: black colour against the white (for example, Dior) or mixing tones of black, white and other colours, using different fabrics.” woman in black fashionable dress

Moreover, you can wear something black and add a great number of accessories to it, thus, you will look glamorous. A new silhouette of the autumn-winter 2007 is a black top with white skirt and a fantastic belt, you will look more stylish than anybody else.

Then, pay attention to the fact, that black perfectly matches any other existing colour and it will look wonderful with them. As for me, I adore the combination of black and gold. It is so glam and cool. People will turn their heads and ask you, where did you get such sexy apparel? Wearing black, your wardrobe becomes easy to mix-and-match.

Slimane Van Assche

There was a debut at Paris men’s fashion week. A popular brand Christian Dior was represented by Belgian designer Kris van Assche. Van Assche’s style is completely different from the previous designer of this Fashion House Hedi Slimane. Hedi was crazy about rock and roll and its tributes and Kris paid attention to 18th-century style.

It is a completely another story to tell. Just imagine, beautiful models, stand motionless under crystal chandeliers, wearing white clothes, Great deal of attention was paid to the details.

Slimane was noticed by the audience and its fans. He is a talented designer, inventor in the sphere of fashion. Let’s just remember, that Karl Lagerfeld lost 93 pounds just to be fit into his leather suit.

Van Assche was Slimane’s assistant, he was taught his main techniques and style, tendencies and trends. But, society already feels the lack of good things for men. Editor-in-chief of magazine Vogue Hommes International, Olivier Lalanne mentioned that he already misses Slimane. He was a revolutionary. He was not afraid to provoke people and to shock them! People do not believe that it is exactly the situation, when an apprentice exceeds his teacher!
