Haute Couture Christmas Trees in Paris

On Thursday 6th December 2007 there was a great opening and auction of the Designer Christmas Trees. In this great event took part 44 names top designers (Christian Lacroix, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Gucci, Sonia Rykiel, Christian Dior, Versace, Chanel are among them). It was a real success. The exhibition took place at the Ministry for Culture and Communication. All money from the auction will be given to children with HIV or AIDS and their families (approximately 30 000 euros). The exhibition will be opened until  the 3rd January 2008 (free entry).

Stephen Jones is a famous person in a hat industry and fashion. He can make a masterpiece from a hat, his hats are intriguing and very original. Always reflect the spirit of time.

Life of the designer used to be interesting and full of bold decisions. Have you ever heard about the legendary Blitz nightclub? Jones was its member, to tell the truth, a very significant member – he was always perfectly dressed and had an extraordinary hat on his head. Stephen was born in Cheshire, finished school in Liverpool and studied at St Martins. In 1980 he opened his first hat store in the middle of London’s Covent Garden.

Jean-Paul Gaultier is a very popular French designer, no doubts, it stands in one row with Galliano, Dior, Lacroix and other designers, which really contributed in the development of a fashion world.

It is amazing, but Jean-Paul didn’t get a special education, but he was really talented and adore clothes, so when he was young, he sent his drawings to famous couture stylists and good luck smiled him – in 1970 he became an assistant of Pierre Cardin. Jean-Paul was only 18 years old. But not everything was so smooth, the house was overstuffed and Jean was fired. It was a gloomy period, but he survived it and started working for Jacques Esterel fashion house. In 1974 he returned to Cardin and was immediately sent to Manila, there his works were highly popular. In 1975 – Gaultier came back to France and began saving money…
